The adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” has added Lena Headey, Jared Harris and Godfrey Gao. Lily Collins stars along with Jamie Campbell Bower in the first feature adaptation of the popular young adult fantasy books. “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” is being directed by Harald Zwart from a screenplay by Postigo Paquette and I. Marlene King.

Shooting starts next month on the story of a seemingly ordinary teenager who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons.

Robert Kulzer is producing for Constantin Film along with Don Carmody.  Exec producers are Unique Features Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne and Constantin’s Martin Moskowicz. Screen Gems will release in the US on Aug 23, 2013. Mister Smith Entertainment will handle foreign distribution.
