Raggedy Ann and Andy are getting the big screen musical treatment courtesy of The Gotham Group and Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash. Variety reports the project will move the dolls into a contemporary, live-action setting with celebrity cameos. Pic, based on “Raggedy Ann and Andy and the Camel with Wrinkled Knees,” will be a blend of puppetry and CG.
Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson are producing for Gotham Group.
Raggedy Ann was created in 1915 and Raggedy Andy was introduced two years later as her brother. They’ve appeared in films before including 1941′s animated “Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy” and 1977’s “Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure,” that was scored by Joe Raposo.
